Captain Richard "Rick" Garcia
Minister: Ordained by Gods Living Words Ministries
Reverend: Ordained by the Universal Life Church
Hello,
Congratulations on your engagement and intentions to marry. I would like to take this opportunity to explain the guidelines and options that
are available to you should you choose to have me perform your marriage ceremony.
I would first like to declare my faith and belief in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I believe that marriage is a sacred institution created
by God and intended specifically for a man and a woman. For this reason I will perform no same sex marriages or commitment
ceremonies.
I generally perform a non-denominational, philosophical ceremony with traditional vows. The dialog I use is listed below. The duration of
my basic ceremony is about 15 minutes. You can choose to omit some of my verbiage according to your personal preferences but you
cannot dictate a new or different sermon. You are, however, free to write the vows that you wish to say to each other. If you have children
from a previous marriage or relationship, a “Blended Family” section can be added to the proceedings. Prayers and scripture readings
can also be added.
Good Luck to you,
and remember,
Eat, Drink, and Get Married!
God Bless You
-Captain Rick Garcia

My Dialog for a Christian Wedding Ceremony
Wedding Prayer
Our heavenly father, whose presence is the source of all happiness, you created earth and heaven, you created man and
then gave him a woman so that he would not be alone. We pray that you will be present to grant your blessing on this man
and this woman.
May they be truly joined in holy marriage according to your covenant. We believe that it was your will that brought them
together. Grant them the frame of heart to enter this new relationship. Equip them with your grace, so they can enjoy the
comforts, cares, trials, and duties of life together in a way that honors your name. Please guide and protect them from this
day forward, this we pray in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
Opening Sermon
Love is a miraculous gift and a wedding is a celebration of that gift. We are gathered here today to celebrate because ADAM
and EVE have found this precious gift. They ask for our blessings as they exchange the vows that will forever unite them as
husband and wife.
ADAM and EVE, Today you embark on a voyage that will last a lifetime. The vessel that carries you on this voyage is called
marriage. You now stand at the helm, ahead of you, lies, the vast ocean of life.
Today you may joyfully look forward to calm seas and clear sunny skies. But you must be prepared. You will encounter
stormy weather and it will require devotion, commitment, and sacrifice from both of you in order to keep your Marriage afloat.
Through out your voyage you will stop at many ports and you may even take on small passengers. Together you will learn
and experience many wonderful things.
You will share everything and hide nothing from each other. You will become each other’s best and most trusted friend.
But beware, so many others have embarked on this same voyage and have allowed their vessel to take on water and they
have sunk into the deep sea of failure.
ADAM and EVE, you must not be frightened by the high waves of insecurity, you must not succumb to the mermaids of
temptation, and you must not be terrified by the great sea monsters that will emerge from the depths of your weaknesses.
What you must do, is trust each other, comfort each other, and strengthen each other. You must love each other totally and
completely. It will be your unconditional love for each other and your faith in God that will keep your marriage a float.
ADAM and EVE, Are you Ready to embark on your voyage?
Consent to be Married
ADAM, do you take this woman to be your wife, to live together in holy matrimony, to love her, to honor her, to comfort her,
and to keep her in sickness and in health, forsaking all others, for as long as you both shall live?"
EVE, do you take this man to be your husband, to live together in holy matrimony, to love him, to honor him, to comfort him,
and to keep him in sickness and in health, forsaking all others, for as long as you both shall live?"
Humble and Submit
ADAM and EVE, You have come here today to show all of your family and friends that you are in love, that you are devoted to
each other and that you want to be together for the rest of your lives.
You will now publicly declare your love and devotion by humbling and submitting yourselves to each other.
ADAM, Humble yourself to the woman you love, and repeat these words.
"I, ADAM take you EVE, to be my wife,
to have and to hold from this day forward,
for better, for worse,
for richer, for poorer,
in sickness and in health,
to love and to cherish, for the rest of my life”
EVE, Submit yourself to the man you love, and repeat these words.
"I, EVE, take you ADAM, to be my husband,
to have and to hold from this day forward,
for better, for worse,
for richer, for poorer,
in sickness and in health,
to love and to cherish, for the rest of my life”
ADAM and EVE You now stand together as one!
Exchange of Rings
“May we have the rings please?”
"Please repeat after me (Groom first)
“I give you this ring, as a token and pledge,
of my devotion and unconditional love for you.”
(Repeat the same for the Bride).
Pronouncement
ADAM and EVE “Please join hands” "By virtue of the authority vested in me as a Reverend in God's Living Words Ministries,
and as a Captain in the United States Maritime Service, I now pronounce you husband and wife."
"You may now kiss your bride."
